Disclaimer Policy

Install at your own risk

Installation of our mounts requires basic mechanical aptitude, standard hand tools, and attention to torque values and clearance dimensions provided in the install guide that ships with each product. Installation modifies your vehicle's roof rack and changes the mounting interface for your rooftop tent.

You are responsible for confirming:

  • Your roof rack is rated to carry the combined weight of our mounting hardware plus your fully loaded rooftop tent
  • Your roof rack is securely attached to your vehicle per the rack manufacturer's instructions
  • The mounting hardware is torqued to the values specified in the install guide on every install and every removal
  • The tent is fully secured before any vehicle motion

Improper installation, exceeding rated load, failure to torque to spec, or use outside the design intent of the product can result in product failure, vehicle damage, property damage to third parties, or personal injury. We are not responsible for outcomes that result from installation choices made outside the documented procedure.

Third-party fitment risks

Our compatibility matrix is built from direct fit testing on commonly available rooftop tents and roof racks. Tent manufacturers update their rail geometry from time to time, and rack manufacturers update their crossbar dimensions and load ratings. A tent or rack that previously fit a specific Option (A, B, or C) of our hardware may no longer fit if the manufacturer has changed the design.

You are responsible for verifying current dimensions of your specific tent and rack before ordering. The Tent and Rack Compatibility matrix is a starting point, not a guarantee of fit on every production revision of every third-party product.

If your specific setup is not on the matrix, email sales@starksidegear.com before ordering and we will tell you whether we have direct knowledge of fit on your hardware.

No warranty against modifications

Our limited warranty (see /pages/limited-warranty) covers manufacturing defects in the hardware as shipped. It does not cover hardware that has been cut, ground, drilled, welded, heat-treated, or otherwise altered by you or by a third party.

Some tent rails require minor field modification (typically a small grind or trim) to fit correctly. Our parts are stainless steel and corrosion-resistant if modified, but any modification is performed at your discretion and voids the manufacturing-defect warranty for the modified part.

If you are not certain whether a modification is required for your tent, contact us at sales@starksidegear.com before cutting.

What we sell

We sell rooftop tent mounting hardware. The active catalog is the Slipstream quick-release mount, the Gatekeeper locking mount, and a small set of accessories. The Shadowline low-profile mount is currently on back order and not in active distribution.

We do not sell rooftop tents themselves. Compatibility information on this site describes how our mounts pair with tents and racks made by third parties.

About this disclaimer

tentmount.com is operated by Stark Side LLC, a limited liability company organized in Colorado, doing business as Stark Side Gear. Our office is in Buena Vista, Colorado. We wrote this policy in plain English so that you can read it before you click checkout, not after.

It does not replace your obligation to read product instructions, follow safety guidance, or use good judgment when installing hardware on your vehicle. The whole point is to be honest about where the product ends and your responsibility begins.
