Privacy Policy

Introduction

This page explains what tentmount.com does with your information. We start with what we collect, then how we use it, then your rights and how to exercise them.

www.TentMount.com is operated by Stark Side LLC, a limited liability company organized in Colorado, doing business as Stark Side Gear. Our office is in Buena Vista, Colorado. If you have a question about anything below, email sales@starksidegear.com or call (303) 351-2227 Monday through Saturday, 9:30am to 6:30pm Mountain time.

This policy covers the www.tentmount.com storefront, our checkout, our customer accounts, and the apps we run on the site. It does not cover anything you do on a third-party site we link to. Those have their own privacy policies.

Information We Collect

We collect three kinds of information.

What you give us. When you place an order, you give us a shipping address, a billing address, an email, and a phone number if you choose to add one. If you create a customer account, you give us a password (which we never see in plain text; Shopify hashes it). If you write a product review, you give us your name, your email, and the review text. If you sign up for back-in-stock alerts, you give us your email and the product variant you want to hear about. If you start a live chat with us, the conversation contents become part of the record.

What's collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider and analytics tools log standard request data: your IP address, your browser type, the pages you visited, and the time. This is how every website on the internet works. Cookies on the site are described in the Cookies section below.

Payment information. Card numbers, CVVs, and bank details go directly to our payment processor through Shopify Checkout. We never see them. We only see a record that the payment went through, the last four digits, and the card brand.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, health data, or precise location data. If a future feature requires anything like that, we'll update this policy first.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the things you'd expect.

  • Filling orders. Address, email, items ordered, shipping carrier β€” all needed to get the box to your door.
  • Customer support. If you call, text, or email about an order, we look up the order to help you.
  • Account features. If you have a customer account, we use your email and order history to show your past orders.
  • Reviews. If you write a Judge.me review, we publish your name (or initials if you prefer) and the review text on the product page.
  • Back-in-stock alerts. If you subscribe, we send you one email when the product variant you asked about is in stock again.
  • Improving the site. Aggregate analytics β€” which pages get visited, where checkout drops off β€” help us fix what's broken. We don't sell or share individual browsing data with advertisers.
  • Legal and tax obligations. We keep order records for the period required by sales tax and accounting law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not share it with advertisers. The only third parties who see your data are the subprocessors listed below: vendors we hire to run pieces of the storefront.

Who We Share It With

The full list is in the Subprocessors section. The short version:

  • Shopify runs the storefront, the checkout, the customer accounts, and the payment connection.
  • Judge.me runs product reviews.
  • A handful of Shopify apps (Tepo, Chatty, Notify Me, Qikify) handle product options, live chat, back-in-stock alerts, and cart upsells.
  • Anthropic (or an equivalent AI provider) will power AI-assisted customer support on the site at a future date.

We may share information with law enforcement if compelled by a valid court order, subpoena, or similar legal process. If that ever happens, we'll push back where appropriate and notify the affected customer if the law allows.

We may share or transfer information if Stark Side LLC is acquired, merged, or sold. If that happens, the buyer inherits this policy unchanged or notifies you of any updates first.

Subprocessors

A subprocessor is a third-party company we hire to handle a specific piece of the storefront. Each one sees only the data it needs to do its job. Each one has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles that data.

We plan to use Anthropic (or an equivalent AI provider) to power AI-assisted customer support on tentmount.com starting at a date to be announced. The provider processes the contents of customer chat conversations to generate responses. The provider does not train its models on this data. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

If we add a subprocessor, we'll update this table before the new vendor goes live on the site. If we drop one, we'll remove it within a reasonable window.

Your Rights

You have rights over the information we hold about you. You can exercise any of them by emailing sales@starksidegear.com with the subject line "Privacy request." We respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, usually by matching the email to an order on file.

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another GDPR jurisdiction, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Erase your information (subject to legal retention obligations; for example, we have to keep order records for tax purposes).
  • Restrict how we use it.
  • Object to a specific use.
  • Receive a copy in a portable format and have it sent to another provider.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you think we got it wrong.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you and where it came from.
  • Delete it (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information.

On "sale": we do not sell your personal information. We do not exchange it for money, advertising credits, or anything similar. The opt-out right exists anyway and you have it.

Non-discrimination. Whether or not you exercise these rights, you get the same products at the same prices.

Cookies and Tracking

A cookie is a small file the site stores in your browser. We use three kinds:

  • Session cookies keep your cart, your login, and your checkout state across pages. Without these the site doesn't work.
  • Preferences cookies remember things like which currency you picked.
  • App cookies are set by the apps in the Subprocessors table when you interact with them (live chat, reviews, back-in-stock).

We do not run a cookie consent banner. If you want to opt out of non-essential cookies, your browser has a setting that blocks them. You can also email sales@starksidegear.com and we'll walk you through it.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not run remarketing pixels for ad networks.

Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as we need it.

  • Order records. Kept for the period required by sales tax and accounting law (default ~7 years for federal tax purposes).
  • Customer account profile. Kept while the account exists. If you ask us to delete it, we delete it (except for the order records above).
  • Live chat transcripts. Kept as set by the subprocessor's standard retention policy.
  • Product reviews. Kept as set by the subprocessor's standard retention policy; reviews can be removed on request.
  • Back-in-stock email list. Kept until the alert fires or you unsubscribe.
  • Server access logs. Kept as set by the subprocessor's standard retention policy.

If you ask us to delete your data, we'll delete what we can and tell you what we have to keep (and why) for the rest.

International Data Transfers

We have customers in the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and Canada, plus the United States. Our subprocessors are mostly based in the United States and Canada. Your information may be processed in any country where Shopify, Judge.me, or one of the apps above operates a server.

When data crosses a border, we rely on the standard contractual protections that Shopify and the other subprocessors put in place with their own customers. If you have a specific question about where your data lives, email us.

Changes to This Policy

We update this page when we add or drop a subprocessor, when a law changes, or when we change how we use data. Substantive changes get an updated "Last updated" date and a short note at the top of the page. Big changes (a new use of data, a new vendor) get an email to active customers if the change affects them.

If you want to see what changed, ask us and we'll send the prior version.
