Verify your set-up is compatible in 3 easy steps:

1. Check your clearance

Please ensure that you are able to maneuver your hand underneath your rack to operate the mounting system. A minimum 3.5" of space is needed below the tent mounting rail to fit the mounts. This product is NOT COMPATIBLE with Rhino Rack Pioneer platforms or Gobi roof racks.

TIP: Do the "credit card test", you must be able to fit a card's length between your tent and vehicle (see image 15).

Own a low profile roof rack (ex. Sherpa or Prinsu). Check out this product instead.

2. Check your tent

Take a look at your tent mounting rail and match the geometry shown in the images for Option A, B, C. Each option has different hardware at the top that best fits your tent mounting rail. You may also search for your tent model in the matrix down below.

See note below about Alpha M10 T-bolt:

In Fall 2021, Tuff Stuff redesigned the mounting rails and hardware kit for the ALPHA model tent. Tents purchased prior to Fall 2021 use a custom M10 T-bolt (shown here) with a 17mm hex head lock nut. The industry standard for Roof Top Tents is M8 hardware. Vanultra quick release mounting brackets are not compatible with the M10 T-bolt. A fit kit is required to replace the T-bolt with standard M8 hardware.

ALPHA tents purchased after Fall 2021, do not require fit kits because they include the standard M8 hardware with nut slider plates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it lock?

Yes it can! You can purchase a roof top tent lock or use a standard 1/2″ receiver hitch pin lock for 1-1/4″ Class I & II receiver.

What is included in the kit?

This kit includes 4 roof top tent mounts. They arrive fully assembled but installation steps are required. Spacers are also included (if needed) but will need reassembly to install. Please follow the steps in the instruction manual.

Will it fit my roof top tent?

Check the tent compatibility table and find the model of your roof top tent to learn if any special hardware is required to adapt to your tent.

What is a fit kit?

Fit kits are required for wide crossbars that are between 3.4" and 5" wide. A Fit kit is also needed if you require the "rotating feature" for platform racks. Check out the available fit kits product page.

Will it work with roof rack platforms?

Our mounts are compatible with some roof rack platforms like Front Runner and others when combined with the 1235 Rotation Fit Kit. The washers will allow the mounts to rotate and clear the spacing.

NOTE: They are NOT compatible with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform because the slots are going front to back instead of side to side.

How can I space my tent up?

Vanultra mounts do NOT add height and will not space your tent up. On that note, these mounts are not designed to clamp to spacers or riser brackets. If you need extra height you could either raise the cross bars or consider alternative mounting solutions.

My rack is not listed? Will it work?

With hundreds of roof and bed racks constantly coming on the market we can’t list them all. Please feel free to reach out if in doubt. Our mounts will fit roof rack height’s between 0.75″ – 2.1″ and width’s between 0.75″ – 3.3″.

My roof rack is low profile to the vehicle roof, how much clearance is needed?

As a rule of thumb, you will need to be able to fit your arm underneath the cross bar to remove the pins and tighten the knob. Minimum 4" below the tent.

What if it still doesn't fit?

Is there an option for 6 mounts?

Yes, we offer a kit for 6 mount assemblies for $434. This may be necessary for set ups using a 3rd cross bar to help distribute the weight of the roof top tent. Please contact sales@vanultra.com to purchase.

Was looking to replace mounting hardware that came with rooftop tent with something that'd make installations and removal much easier. The payoff for me is since one side of the mounting bracket ends up being permanently mounted and does not need to be moved it provides a consistent forward/aft mounting location. Important when mounting the rooftop tent on an suv since you don't want the trunk lid to hit the tent when opening that trunk.

I'm glad I waited to write the review. My first test fit did NOT go well but it was close enough, that I thought we could make it work. I reached out to Vanultra for help and they had two great ideas to try at no cost. We figured out that the interference was caused by the large black knobs - so we swapped those to a wing nut and BOOM! THEY FIT! I'm very happy they fit because the quality and speed is second to none!

A few specific notes on fitment to my setup:
The moonroof really changes the game and may be the cornerstone to using these brackets. It makes installing the front brackets a breeze. In the rear, you must be able to get your hand into the second bar to install the retaining pin. I used pliers to install the cotter pin. worked great, very secure.

Excellent product, well made and designed quick release RTT mounts

I really like these RTT quick release mounts. They are well thought and do the job as expected. Other quick release options the clamps stay on the load bars but with these the mounts stay on the tent which I prefer. They allow you to set a fixed point on the tent to mount to the load bars so that you can quickly set it in the exact same spot every time. They look great, work great and are very rugged. I’ve used them several times now and I am very pleased with them.
